To Be Slow

I yearn to be slow

but I am stuck brood-oscillating

between AI wiping out humanity in the future

and humanity wiping out humanity in the present.

What money, greed, power and religious brainwash

can do when left unchecked is appalling, is mind boggling.

When you heat up something beyond its threshold,

you pass way too much electricity to a motor,

when you apply too much torque to turn wheels beyond

their capacity to hold on to their axle,

all of it breaks and shatters.

And that is what we have done to ourselves in our

quest for speed and power.

Now we are all children of hate.

Because love has no place anymore,

neither on screen nor in real life.

The only place it remains is in pages of books

of olden days where the norm of the day was slow

with the people still yearning to be fast.
